KNOW HOW TO DISCERN
Knowing how to discern priorities is a skill that prevents us from wasting time. It facilitates the personal growth journey; renders the journey clearer, more secure. We often confuse urgent matters with important ones. We confuse needs with choices. Not always are the most urgent matters the most important. Choices should guide our lives rather than needs.
PRAY AND ACCEPT YOURSELVES
Rejection by others triggers the old, childish complexes of insecurity and a sense of inferiority. Accept it. They are part of human nature. However, these reactions should be temporary – a few days, a few months, but not years. Fast. Stay in silence. Pray. And forgive yourselves. Only after these steps will you be able to feel your heart again. Clean. Free.
STAY STILL… INSIDE OURSELVES
Often when we are in crisis- depressed, faced with rejection or failure- we tend to blame others. And yet, it is right in those moments that we should stay still and look inside ourselves.
In our hearts.
In this way we will find useful direction for continuing our journey of awareness, for increasing wisdom and for knowing God in a closer way.
STOP THE WORLD
Stop the world!
Death comes and goes
From the silver crossroads
Into deep journeys
Of dreams past
With the rose
Hidden
In the hair
ALTERNATIVE ROUTES
My apologies for not writing recently… but I haven’t been feeling physically well (it’s my heart as usual…)
3. Identify alternative solutions and methods, foreseeing escape routes.
4. Evaluate the cost of each alternative.
5. Choose among the alternatives. This phase often requires compromises.
The most effective solution can violate biblical principals; it can create other problems…
THE PROBLEM
2. Clearly define the problem.
A manager who knows how to accurately identify the problem is already on the road to resolving it. One needs to obtain all possible information in order to identify the problem.
SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS
Finding solutions to problems requires a method.
I advise Christian managers the following method for resolving problems.
1. First ask yourself if the problematic situation is a problem or a condition.
2. If it is a problem try to resolve it.
3. If it is a condition, accept it with healthy realism.
THREE SWALLOWS
Bamboo canes
Tremble
Under a crushing sky
A mean wind
Pushes the olive trees
Full of lament
Towards the earth
Three swallows move
Slowly
In concentric circles
On the putrid water
Of the pond.
PSYCHO-SPIRITUAL LEADER
The aware, psycho-spiritual leader:
-stays still when everything else is spinning.
-divides his personnel into self-sufficient teams in order to face the hardest tasks; teams that help each other.
-seeks inspiration in his wisdom.
-never forgets that he is part of a bigger world.
-works with honor, integrity and coherence.
