TO MY ENEMIES

To my enemies, to those who hurt me, with all my regards !

Friendship, this word is used wildly, debased and misused. Nevertheless, this is a word very valuable for me in his authentic and original sense. Indeed, I have never call someone my friend if I didn’t know him and if I didn’t love him deeply. And I will never do that ! And I didn’t confuse an acquaintance, someone kind, someone respected, the companion, the brother with the TRUE friend. And I will never confuse both of them ! I write only now about friendship because – for me – friendship can’t exist without maturity and responsibility. Only when it’s the case, friendship can bring pleasure and sense in our life.

“A true friend shows love at all times, and is a brother who is born for times of distress” – (Proverbs 17:17).

“There are companions ready to crush one another, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother” –(Proverbs 18:24).

“No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his life in behalf of his friends” – (John 15:13).

This is an ability. This is the place where we can drink life by his more intimate, deep and mysterious roots. Seeing like this, friendship is an inwardly and continuous trip, even it should be painful sometimes. For reach real friendship’s dimension, as I really mean, we should purifiy our heart, we should rid our heart of every wicked things and lies that can prevent us to be true with ourselves – first of all – with others, with God.

“ “Abraham put faith in Jehovah, and it was counted to him as righteousness”, and he came to be called Jehovah’s friend” – (James 2:23).

WHAT WE SHOULD SAY

1- Our words should be true.

2- Our words should be vital.

3- Our words should be essential

Otherwise, it’s better to keep silence.

Wise men are silent most of the time. They wait and listen. As them, we should express ourselves only for the best – Ecclésiaste 3:7

OUR OWN STORY

The only story we can write about is our own – with its failures and successes. However, God alone has true strength. Our strength is not our own, but derived from His, although it is often used to protect and expand our own egos so that our culture becomes one big ego, endlessly multiplied. But when we have something important to defend, we are afraid, while those who trust in God’s strength are not afraid. The spirituality I write about in my books isn’t a formula to resolve problems, but it encourages us to examine them more deeply. We shouldn’t live looking for certainties, but truth, reminding ourselves that not everything depends on us.

God asked Abram to leave everything. And Abram obeyed because he was a truly spiritual man and did not simply follow the exterior forms of religious observance, as do many in our time, who go to churches and want to be admired and noticed by others. I’m happy that Abraham (as God named him) is honored by three world religions (Jews, Muslims, and Christians) because he was a nonconformist who had the courage to move out from his secure life into an uncertain future. And he died without seeing the fulfillment of the promise he had received. Each of us, at some point in our earthly existence has to leave everything behind. I still remember when, after my father’s death, I left my profession as a successful psychotherapist to go and do university teaching in Latin America.

Prof. VALERIO ALBISETTI has donated three defibrillators to the city of LECCO, on the Lake of Como. On June 15th the inauguration of the three columns will take place with the defibrillators, which will be used to save the lives of those suffering from sudden heart attacks.

“I have understood with the passage of time that the more things we give away, the lighter and more swiftly we travel on our journey toward spiritual awareness,” said Albisetti in our interview with him.

GOING TO CHURCH IS NOT ENOUGH

In a world that is becoming more and more confused and evil-intentioned, where the Catholic church, the one I’m most familiar with, is not only self-focused, rich, and powerful, but often doesn’t “walk the walk” of penance and conversion of heart, I am convinced of the need for truly deep, spiritual persons. And more importantly that these persons understand it is not enough to go to church to show they are good people, but each one needs to have a radical and permanent change of heart. I have always written that it is essential to read, study, and follow the Sacred Scriptures, the Word of God, every day. But if your heart isn’t freed from neuroses, complexes, blockages, obsessions, depression, fixations, perversions, egoism, fear, envy, jealousy, greed, bad habits and cravings, you won’t enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I have come to understand all of that from 40 years of professional psychotherapy experience and 30 years of reading psychospiritual books. It is not enough to read and follow the Word of God by force of will alone, but one’s heart has to be clean and pure. And not only does the heart have to be cleansed of neuroses, but it must also be free from every stain of pagan and idolatrous lies that have too often found a place in the hearts of otherwise good believers from birth, rendering them prisoners of those same lies. This work of cleansing, must be done daily, with psychology and spirituality, that is, with the Word of God.

(John 8:31, 32) “To the Jews who believed in him Jesus said: If you make my word your home, you will indeed be my disciples; you will come to know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

ALWAYS AN ADVOCATE OF A JOYFUL HEART

After almost forty years of being a practitioner of psychotherapy I’m convinced that human beings come fully awake when they suffer and, even more, when they are dying, and that idea radically contradicts the modern idea that humanity’s future runs in a straight and continuous line toward progress. Contrarily for some time now in my numerous books I have been saying that earthly life is only one of the ways of living God gives us, and it can only be understood by seeing things spiritually. Death, as I have always written, is only a door to another dimension. In my opinion this life is just an infinitesimal part of the eternal life which is ours. For this reason, by choice, I have never sought the happiness of men. Since I was a child, I have always advocated a different kind of joy – that of the Spirit. That of the heart.

THE SPIRIT AND HUMAN SUFFERING

I am convinced that only spiritual being can lead us to a true understanding of life’s goal. This spiritual awareness accompanies men and women in a dignified way even through illness and suffering to the end of earthy existence. It is an enormous error, which many fall into, to give life in this world a finality different from that of the next world. That error produces dangerous neuroses and an existential emptiness that nothing can fill. It creates desperation. It is the spirit that is undying, not the body and the psyche!

LUNA NERA – BLACK MOON

On Amazon you can now find the book of poetry in Italian and English I wrote during my retreat in a hermitage in the Tuscan countryside of Italy after having returned from Latin America, where I did university teaching. It is my first e.book, and I am especially fond of it because it awakened deep in my heart ancient sounds and colors. So much so that I believe it will be my new and authentic witness in this important historic period. For me, poetry has now become my preferred way of speaking to those who have followed me for years. When I feel, think, and then write a poem, everything changes for me, and, as I say in the book’s introduction, communication becomes essential, full, and intense.
