We’re used to dividing reality into polar opposites: white and black, good and bad, beautiful and ugly, health and sickness, life and death. The wisdom of thousands of years, though, has shown us that this way of looking at things is incorrect, reductionist, and limiting because the two, opposite poles are closely correlated and, in fact, inseparable – so much so that if one pole is eliminated, the other also disappears. And the opposite is also true: If one is increased, the other also grows. For this reason, my psychospiritual outlook counsels always keeping in our purview the opposite pole of the one we are living. The eye of our souls should continuously oscillate between one pole and the other – even, if possible, concurrently, which is one way we can and must move from division to unity.
