The people who fully live their lives develop the two essential components of their lives that make them fully human: head and heart. Neither is more important than the other, but both are equally essential, so both need to be developed and expressed to their fullest potential and in full harmony, the one with the other. In fact, the persons who reach spiritual awareness live a healthy and natural balance between head and heart, and that will decide their behavior, attitudes, and choices. When you’re aware that your’re living too much from the head, it’s time to look toward your heart and toward your deepest self. In my writings I’ve always compared a person to a tree, which has to push its roots deep into the earth in order to grow tall and strong, and, at the same time, has to reach upward toward the life-giving sunlight in order to survive. In the same way the head can’t exist without the heart, since, in cutting off the lower parts – the heart and the body – the head then climbs by itself toward dangerous and dizzying heights, where it will end by losing itself. So that’s why supra-reasonable people end up, at some point, losing their heads.
