Valerio Albisetti - Il viaggio della Vita

PROFOUND AWARENESS OF LIFE

The real problem is not the loss of things and persons, but rather the slipping away of one’s own life and especially of deep reflection on the profound meaning of one’s own existence in God’s eyes. In other words, only when we have a deep, personal understanding of our lives can we venture into either the dark woods or the sunny meadows of life, meet dangers and enemies and take risks because the darkly negative or brightly positive ways of looking at friends and enemies come only from how they’re met or, in the case of events, how they’re lived through.
Certainly, unexpected happenings and losses, the unwanted end of important, intimate relationships, betrayals, the death of loved ones, illness, failure, or any kind of adversity put our identities to the test – put them in crisis-mode and sometimes lead to breakdowns. But invariably, if we have pursued the deep significance of our lives and met God in the process, we bounce back to life again.
By the deep meaning of our own existence I mean the compass found in every human being that directs us towards others – each in our own unique and personal way.
Only when we have a profound awareness of our own existence and want to work toward the realization of its full potential, whatever the cost, placing ourselves at the service of others, can we say we’re fully human, fully developed, possessing a real goal in life.
