Yesterday I was interviewed for a Jesuit magazine in Brazil… they asked me how I live when I am living as a hermit… I didn’t know what to say… now I would say that I spend many hours reflecting on the corruption inherent in every type of attachment… I think about anxiety, suffering and the slavery that comes from them… and I contemplate instead the profound joy of interior freedom that comes from being detached… to break the tie of attachment one needs to know how to observe his or her level of dependence… we love when we are capable of living WITHOUT DEPENDENCIES
