ALBISETTIAN PSYCHOSPIRITUAL ANALYSIS
PROJECTION

Projection consists in denying that certain thoughts, feelings, and negative urges are one’s own and attributing them to others in order to bolster one’s own self-esteem. “I’m not the bad one, he is.” And the price to pay for this kind of behavior is in not knowing one’s own or even the other’s authentic self, leading to the inability to effect any real change. For that reason, the projection mechanism can be effectively combatted by increasing spiritual awareness and with the help of Albisettian psychospiritual analysis, in the same way as the belief that frequent confession can be a catalyst for change. Many times, if truth be told, the formal repetition of certain religious rituals contributes to the persistence of pathological conditions, of lies and corruption. Only the assuming of personal responsibility and the courage to look ourselves honestly in the eyes in order to correct and change ourselves, can lead to true conversion. Only the elimination of the projection mechanism can return our true identities, vital and creative as they are, to us.

SCRIPTURE TO HELP DELVE DEEPER
(Genesis 3:11, 12) “’Have you been eating from the tree I forbade you to eat?’ The man replied, ‘It was the woman you put with me; she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.’”
(Proverbs 5:22) “The wicked is snared in his own misdeeds, is caught in the meshes of his own sin.”
(Isaiah 5:18) “Woe to those who drag guilt along by the reins of duplicity, drag along sin as though with a cart rope;…”
(Jeremiah 3:13) “Only acknowledge your guilt: how you have rebelled against the Lord your God, how you have prostituted yourself with the Strangers under every green tree and have not listened to my voice,…”
(Hosea 8:13) “On the contrary, he will remember their guilt and punish their sins;…”
(James 1:22-25) “But you must do what the Word tells you and not just listen to it and deceive yourselves. Anyone who listens to the Word and takes no action is like someone who looks at his own features in a mirror and, once he has seen what he looks like, goes off and immediately forgets it. But anyone who looks steadily at the perfect law of freedom and keeps to it – not listening and forgetting, but putting it into practice – will be blessed in every undertaking.”
