Valerio Albisetti - Il viaggio della Vita

WHERE I LAY TO COUNT THE STARS

The power line of the multinational TERNA will pass above my hermitage, ruining it forever. Naturally, I am not asking you to sign the public petition of the Bucine High Tension Committee for me (with my illness I can easily go and get treatment in some Northern city) but because the passage of the 50 meter high power line will ruin forever the sweet surrounding hills that make up the true beauty and the true value of this Italian countryside, noted around the world. But think too about the trees cut down, the animals that live here, the farmhouses destroyed, the small farmers and agri-tourism businesses forced to close down.  Why can’t they make this an underground power line?? And why don’t we become indignant at the deafness and blindness of these multinationals, which are indifferent to our daily lives? After all, our lives are short. And I believe that it’s worth it to live giving meaning to our lives rather than passing them passively and laying ourselves down before the powerful. When we read the pages of medieval history we root for the poor farmers that fought against the nobles. And today, what has changed?

I have decided to write a short excerpt, everyday, from my book LAUGH FROM THE HEART. Ed. Paoline, A book written right in front of this hermitage. This way you can breathe the fragrant and light air that flows through the forests surrounding the hermitage, where I lay down to count the stars.
