Prayer today is so undervalued by the dominating consumerism that maybe we need to start again biblical prayer followed immediately by fasting and charity, that is, love. Prayer without love would be pure formality, just as fasting without charity would be pure masochism. Intense charity as practice of concrete and daily love.
