  Prayer today is so undervalued by the dominating consumerism that maybe we need to start again biblical prayer followed immediately by fasting and charity, that is, love. Prayer without love would be pure formality, just as fasting without charity would be pure masochism. Intense charity as practice of concrete and daily love.

  These days, as in all of the past twenty five years, I am about to write a book that will be released in Italian bookstores next year. As always I spent the summer in the silence of the woods that surround my Tuscan hermitage, in intimate contact with the nature of the place, for now uncontaminated (TERNA power line notwithstanding).
